Gooey On the Inside was an amazing scene, and an incredible moment in time of art and music but it is time to for us close the curtains on this.

Q: What is Gooey on The Inside?
A: Gooey on the Inside was an underground art, music and event organisation curated by Kati Cubby and Holly Fluxx that successfully hosted over 40 separate events (from 2007-2010).
Our events included art exhibitions, live music performances, dance parties, artist markets, workshops, skill shares, contemporary dance performances, writings, theatre performances, fundraisers, live video streams, panel discussions and fashion shows, as well as a combination of many of these simultaneously.
Highlights of Gooey On the Inside include: - A live music and art event in Berlin, Germany (The Slumber Party) - A live music and art event in Santiago, Chile (La Cunt Rave) - A well received music showcase compilation cd (Hit Machine XXIVIVX), featuring Gooey on the Inside artists from Indonesia, Japan, Chile, USA, UK, Papua New Guinea, New Zealand, and across Australia. - An invitation to speak at This Is Not Art Festival 2008 on "How to start a scene from scratch" - Producing our own specialist radio programs for 3CR and SYN fm - Over 40 successful dynamic and diverse events spanning the course of three years - Featured in an interview and full page spread in UK magazine "Super Super" as well as local Australian zines
Focusing on young people who identified as women, trans, queer, and people of colour, we strived to create space, agency, audience, support and a thriving, dynamic environment and build a community for our artists.

got an all night bus to santiago and spent the whole day getting all the work formatted for printing, and then running around the whole city getting the printing...(not as simple and straight forward as i assumed? ) haha.
sooo tired!!! then went to gallery and set up till midnight. we arrived and they had just painted the walls purple!! .. and said we couldnt use the upstairs gallery space, which is white, and had to use the downstairs space. and that we werent allowed to hang anything, only use tape!!!!
it was challenging to work within those parameteres like...on the spot, but we did it!!!!!

hey look at this email i just got from my friend Matto who puts on shows and parties here in chile, south america....its really funny !!!!!!! (i have bolded my personal favourite bits)
I wanted to ask a favor, if they can post the event on their Facebook profiles, to help me in spreading, later sent the order of the dj, the amount of bands and djs, dj set will surely 45 minutes, the place has amplification and microphones, in case anyone is encouraged to recite poems or shouting at people Move your ass! I command that all the energy and the universal power.
MISS BOLIVIA is a girl mc based in argentina, she makes reggae, reggaeton, dancehall, rap,...... i went to her show in Buenos Aires, it was really good!!!!! she has these MASSIVE dreads, like twice the size of her head !! THe show was really fun and engaging, the band was : Miss bolivia (mc), a hype girl, and a live bassist (no dj). fuulllly reggae style rapping in spanish, it was awesome!!!
she was confident and really relaxed, i havent been to many girl reggae/dancehall shows, in fact i think it was the first one i have seen. Miss Bolivia is queer and the audience was made up of like hipsters, drag queens, rasta guys, queer girls wearing metal shirts..... soooo wierd and interesting mix of ppl!!!
Even tho i really love it, i think alot of dancehall and reggae can be quite homophobic and sexist, and so i thought it was so awesome and interesting and cool to go to this MASSIVE club and see this total mix of ppl and everyone just dancing and not caring about that shit.
so since im in south america i thought id better share something there is this cool band in argentina called Kumbia Queers, and i just wanted you all to know that.
we dont really have cumbia music in australia, its kind of like tropical.....
